During this winter’s hibernation season, The Coming Out Chronicles are taking a break from putting out new material.
We didn’t want to leave you hanging though so we’ve got some of our older episodes set to automatically pre-release.
We hope you enjoy them!
We always get something new every time we re-listen.
Keturah joins Nancy in this episode to talk about coming out as the daughter of a Missionary, what it’s like to be a queer woman in the military and being a queer woman with religious beliefs. Keturah explains how her family have embraced and struggled with her coming out, and how her ongoing connection to her childhood experiences shape the actions she is taking today.

Being a young black American living in Kenya, Keturah grew up challenged by stereotypes and oppression, particularly while attending a mostly all-white religious boarding school. Keturah shares with Nancy what impact that has had on her, both in terms of her race and her sexuality.

Listen to Keturah talk about her own experiences, as a daughter, as a black woman, as a queer woman, as an adopted woman, and as a member of the military.

In this episode you'll hear about:

4:02 Coming out to friends for the first time

5:40 Advice from Karamo of Queer Eye

6:40 Dad, will you walk me down the aisle if I marry a woman?

9:43 Don’t ask, don’t tell

21:40 Black Lives Matter

29:20 Keturah’s next coming out story
