Welcome back to the podcast, I’m Jamie Baynes. Today’s guest is journalist and author, Liz Collin. You may remember hearing about Liz and her husband back in 2020. Liz was an anchor on a Minneapolis television station and her husband was a Minneapolis Police Lt. who handled union matters. After the death of George Floyd, Liz and her husband, as well as the police officers and citizens of Minneapolis were put through hell during the protests and riots following Floyd’s death. I watched the documentary, ‘The Fall of Minneapolis’ on YouTube, which was based on Liz’s Amazon book: They’re lying: The Media, The Left, and The Death of George Floyd’. After reading the book, I reached out to her to see if she’d be a guest on an episode and she graciously agreed. I hope you enjoy our conversation. And after you listen, consider this:

Many of you who know me, know that I was a Homicide detective in the City of Richmond in 2020. I was not on the front lines of Richmond’s protests and riots; that was handled by the brave women and men in uniform. I was present on the roof of RPD HQ when the protests kicked off and saw people yell obscenities at me and other detectives watching the crowd simply because we were police officers. I was there when the RPD HQ was in danger of being overrun and the other HQ personnel and I were relocated to 2nd Precinct in case the HQ building was breached. I could go on and on about the betrayal of police officers in Richmond and nationwide, by not only some citizens, but by some of the city’s leaders as well, but I won’t.

But I will also never forget, either.

And I will always stay positive.

Until next time, take care of one another and thanks for listening.
