For eight years, beginning when he was still a college student, Jameson Broggi worked tirelessly to get the South Carolina state legislature to pass the Reinforcing College Education on America’s Constitutional Heritage (REACH) Act. Signed into law in April '21, the REACH ACT requires all South Carolina college students to take a three-credit-hour class on the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence and the Federalist Papers to graduate.

He and Dr. Jeff Myers discuss why he pushed so hard for the legislation and the impact it can have. "People aren't born knowing these things," Broggi says. "They must be taught and learned." And when they are, as Dr. Jeff explains, the results can change the electorate in a generation. In South Carolina every year, about 21,000 college students now take a class on America’s founding documents because of Broggi's work. And other states are currently considering similar legislation.
