Summary:
During dinner Mr Bennet hardly speaks but as it finished, he decides that it is time to find out what sort of person Mr Collins is. Collins speaks at length in praise of Lady Catherine and states that though deemed proud by many, he has only seen her amiable. Mrs Bennet proclaims that more People of her class should be like her and follows to ask if she has any children. Colins informs the Bennets that she has only 1 child, a girl, though beautiful, is of a sickly constitution. He goes on giving further praise about Lady Catherine, and eventually Mr Bennet is left very content in knowing that that his cousin is indeed as absurd as he had hoped.
They then go to the other room, and Mr Bennet invites Mr Collins to read allowed to the family and it comes out that Collins never reads novels. After looking a little more, he finds some sermons. After 3 pages read in a monotonous voice, Lydia interrupts him to talk about he soldiers. Ending the lecture for the evening.
