EP #002
Eric Deeter

The mindset you need to run a 100 mile trail race is the same mindset that you need to break out of your limiting beliefs.

Eric Deeter didn’t set out to run ultramarathons. He was trying to break out of the limiting beliefs that had limited his success for decades.

He’d read all the self-help books. Attended mastermind seminars. Written and recited positive affirmations. But nothing worked. His subconscious mind kept him stuck.

Then, in 2017, he found an answer. He read a book describing the biochemical interaction between the mind and body. He learned a simple meditation that helped him unwind the stories of false humility lodged in his subconscious. He achieved his weight-loss goal that had eluded him for 15 years.

Then he saw pictures of a friend’s success at a 50 mile trail race. He decided he would run that same race the following year. The next day he ran his first mile on the trails.

He completed the 50 mile race and decided to run the 100 mile option the next year. He missed the cutoff at 84 miles, but his running friends convinced him to run another 100 mile race coming up in 6 weeks. He ran the distance plus a bonus mile at that race.

Eric works with his clients to help them develop the mindset to change their stories and self-talk so they can do more and go farther than they ever imagined.

ChiRunning also fits with his mindset coaching because ChiRunning relies on a focus and awareness on how the mind and body work together.
