Toddlerhood is a time of tremendous development as our little ones develop new skills and discover the world around them.
In this episode we welcome back our Child Psychologist Deirdre Brandner to help us understand and navigate some of the common challenging toddler behaviours and learn some tips and tricks on how best to respond and teach to our toddlers.
We discuss:

  • What are some of the ‘typical’ challenging behaviours we can expect to see with toddlers?
  • At what age do toddlers develop the notion of ‘right and wrong’ or ‘this is something that I am allowed or not allowed to do’?
  • How do you teach your child the difference between right and wrong?
  • Let’s talk about some of the challenging toddler behaviours in more detail. Why can toddlers behave this way and what the best way to respond to our toddlers as parents?
    • Hitting
    • Kicking
    • Biting
    • Refusing to go
    • Throwing things
    • Separation anxiety
    • Endless energy
  • What are some of your tips around encouraging positive behaviour?
  • Our little ones don’t have any understanding of time. So how can we encourage our children to do something they may not want to do, i.e. get out the house to go to daycare on time?
