On today's episode of The Health Literacy 2.0 Podcast, Seth Serxner is joined by Steven Noeldner from MercerWELL to talk about how to navigate the complex employee well-being vendor landscape.
Dr. Noeldner is a Partner and Senior Consultant in Mercer’s Total Health Management specialty practice.
Steven works with employers to develop health management strategies as well as to evaluate, select, implement, and monitor performance of wellness and health management programs. He has over 25 years of experience in health management, and has written numerous papers and book chapters.
Steven holds a Ph.D. in Exercise Science with concentrations in Sport Psychology, Exercise Physiology, and Biomechanics from Arizona State University and a Master of Science degree in Adult Fitness & Cardiac Rehabilitation from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse.
In a wide-ranging conversation, Steven and Seth discuss:

  • How organizations participating in well-being programs should reduce reliance on external rewards as employees find value in the program.
  • The current state of well-being programs offered by organizations.
  • The evolution of incentives for participation, and whether certain activities require financial or extrinsic motivators.
  • Coaching and preventive screenings as examples of activities that may not require incentives.
