In part two of this two part episode, Arivee shares three more key ways to build confidence. They aren’t what you may think. The patriarchy would have you believe that you need to be “more confident” to be successful at work - but that is a zero sum game. As women and women of color, research shows that regardless of how we show up, men perceive our lack of career progression as due to a lack of self-confidence. We’re either “overcompensate” which signals a lack of confidence or we don’t have the right “presence” or “voice” or “posture” which are also signals of a lack of confidence - according to the research on this topic.

While we cannot change others’ judgments or perceptions of us and our level of confidence, many women generally want to feel good about themselves. Regardless of how we are perceived at work, we want to feel confident about who we are and how we show up in life. This episode is for you if you want to take your power back and learn how to build confidence in practical ways each day.
