On tonight's show: Our guest is Linda McCoy-Murray of the Jim Murray Memorial Foundation. The late Jim Murray was an award winning sportswriter at Sports Illustrated, Time and most famously, the Los Angeles Times, and is acknowledged to be one of the most influential columnists in the history of the medium. Despite being struck with blindness late in life, Murray continued to cover and write about sports up to the end of his life, in 1998. Murray won a Pulitzer Prize, the Red Smith Award, was a 14 time National Sportswriter of the Year, and is a member of the media wing of the Baseball HOF. Murray created The Jim Murray Memorial Foundation (JimMurrayFoundation.com), whose primary purpose is to raise money for journalism scholarships. Currently 28 universities participate annually in a national essay competition in which five $5,000.00 scholarships are annually awarded. Linda Murray-McCoy is Jim's widow, and we'll talk about her late husband and the work of his foundation. After the interview, we'll dive into the last week in Detroit sports, including: 1. The wild MSU victory over Notre Dame, along with discussing head coach Mark Dantonio suffering a heart attack after the win. 2. The wild U of M win over FCS school UMass, and the Wolverines' defense being gashed by the undermanned Minutemen. 3. The Lions losing another heartbreaker on Sunday, this time to the Eagles, along with discussing the breakout of Jahvid Best and the disappearance of Calvin Johnson. We'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week! Be here at 7PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!
