Leah talks to Tara Austin, behavioural and brand strategist, and psychedelic medicines campaigner, in this week’s episode of The Longest Day. Tara’s redundancy was totally unexpected given that she and the Creative Director then were winning big, pitch businesses for the company. She contrasts that day with her ‘shortest day’ when she was invited to 10 Downing Street to talk to Dominic Cumming. It led to her campaigning for access to psilocybin medicines – what she believes is ‘the next great social innovation’ on par with technological ones like the internet and mobile phones. Given the state of our NHS, the endemic problems of alcoholism and drug addiction, she gives compelling reasons for why there should be national, access rights to psilocybin. Her own experience using them showed her the worth of the present moment and that she should put her energies into the pursuit of joy and gratitude which leads to a better quality of life.
