Today on The Marketing Podcast, Heather Watson and Brendan Quigley talk about the recent Facebook News Feed changes. Google is now indexing sites based on mobile responsiveness as well, we’re talking about Reddit and how it all works. Finally, a fun partnership between Travelocity and Tinder.

Facebook is once again changing the News Feed to crack down on clickbaiting. In an attempt to reduce the spammy clutter, they will be demoting content that is fake news, spammy and click bait. Heather and Brendan talk about forced engagement and rules around contesting on Facebook. The platform is also removing the disputed flags on fake news and showing verified news sources instead.

Mobile Indexing has now begun. Brendan digs in about what it means and how businesses can make sure their websites meet this new criteria. It will be a slow transition with no dates but Heather talks about how now is the time for businesses to make their sites mobile responsive and what you can do.

Are you on Reddit? Heather and Brendan talk about their latest mobile upgrade and what the platform is all about; how it works and what’s going on in that corner of the internet. We talk about whether or not there are merits for businesses to engage on Reddit and how they can engage in a meaningful way with the community.

Recently a contest launched with Travelocity that targets Tinder. Heather and Brendan talk about the creativity of the campaign and how they’re looking to reach into new markets. It’s a great demonstration of creative partnerships to achieve marketing goals.
