PUBLIC VERSION. Filmmaker Chris Nash (IN A VIOLENT NATURE, ABC’S OF DEATH 2) joins Adam, Joe, and Arwen in the ArieScope Studio to discuss his career journey. From his fascination with art and FX work as a child growing up in Canada… to the horror films that he admires most… to working at an actual FX shop thanks to the encouragement of previous MOVIE CRYPT guest Steve Kostanski (PSYCHO GORMAN)… to providing make-up FX for countless other productions… to the writing of his subversive/experimental horror film IN A VIOLENT NATURE which focuses mainly on the slasher himself instead of on the characters trying to survive… to the film’s challenging shoot (and re-shoots)… to designing and planning for the film’s many gruesome kills by leaning on his many years of FX artist experience… to where the concept of “Johnny’s” awesome mask came from… to his bold choice to not use score in the film… to NATURE’s Sundance world premiere and the various audience responses from screenings since… Chris is a terrific example of an artist making waves by creating the kind of film HE wants to see instead of trying to chase current market trends.
