The Transfiguration in Mark 9 is a pivotal moment in the ministry of Jesus. It marks a shift in the middle of the story from popularity to confrontation, from success toward suffering. And yet, at the top of a mountain, Jesus' inner circle gets a glimpse of who he truly is. It's a moment shrouded in mystery but loaded with meaning. But more than anything, the question that hovers over this scene like a cloud on the mountain is this -- now that we've seen Jesus, will we actually listen to him? NOTES -- // SCRIPTURE FOCUS -- Mark 9.2-13 // Moses, Elijah, and the whole Old Testament are lights—like stars shining in a dark world. But Jesus is now the SHINING SUN. The stars don’t disappear, but the greater light outshines them in our Day today. // Are we listening to Jesus... theologically...socially...politically...internally...practically...? // QUOTE -- “The new birth is neither a conversion to our authentic inner self nor a migration of the soul into a heavenly realm, but a translation of a person into the house of God erected in the midst of the world.” (MIROSLAV VOLF, Soft Difference: Theological Reflections on the Relation between Church and Culture in 1 Peter) // Will we walk, wait, look, and listen for the whisper of His words? Will we pay attention to the nudge toward His work along the level path we walk with the Holy Spirit?
