6: Making Your Home in Love

Jesus says that he is the vine and his followers are the branches. So if his disciples want to bear fruit, they need to "Abide" in Jesus -- drawing on his life, love, and power to flourish (John 15). Then, Jesus deepens and focuses this invitation, now telling his followers to abide in "his love." If there is one area in which to build a life and make a home, surely it must be within the self-sacrificial love of Jesus. How would our lives and world be transformed if we made this journey deep into the center his love? NOTES -- // SCRIPTURE FOCUS -- John 15.9-17 // Love is at the center of the Labyrinth. Love washes feet, keeps promises, and gives itself away for others. When Love incarnate asks that we make our home in his love, Love acts out for us what Love asks of us. Divine love empower us to love. // You can't out-believe your beloved-ness. You can't think your way into it, either. The truth of God's love for you must be entered and embraced. You make your home in it. // What if sin is just a failure to love? // TNC Mantra -- The love of God is working IN you when love of neighbor is flowing OUT of you. You never "move on" from this love but you can move deeper IN and further OUT. // What kind of life do you want to live? What is your highest value? What kind of person do you want to be? What kind of people do you want your children to become?
