Take a good look at the Gospels and it seems like Jesus' ministry boils down to healing, teaching, and... eating. And sometimes all three at once! What can we learn from Jesus' dinner parties and the stories he tells about the kind of party God's inviting us into? What would our neighborhood look like if we broke more bread and broke down walls? I think we'd find that in the kingdom of God there's always more room at the table. NOTES -- // SCRIPTURE FOCUS -- Luke 14.15-24 // The Church is a diverse, international dinner party gathered around Jesus. The question is whether or not we will... 1. Accept an invitation ourselves, 2. Extend an invitation to others, and 3. Remember there's always more room at the table. // Three Layers to the story: 1. Jesus' present tense with his people 2. Luke's present tense with the early church 3. Our present tense with our world // We become an extension and expression of God's welcome // Stick around long enough and you, the guest, becomes a host // May we leave room for those who are close, far, or anywhere in between; so that we may take a seat at the Table and find God’s kingdom in our midst.
