Is there better chance of success at banning neonicotinoids at the state level than at the federal? Although there have been many diligent efforts by NGO’s, environmental groups, beekeepers and bee health advocates to ban neonicotinoids in the United States, there has been no success that equates to the lead set by European bee health advocates. However, some organizations are working to make the changes within their own states to bring about the legal protection needed to protect pollinators. The state of Ohio, which has a long history of leadership within the beekeeping community, has been working diligently to bring about the legal protection needed to protect pollinators. In this segment of The Organic View Radio Show, host, June Stoyer talks to Michele Colopy, Program Director of the Pollinator Stewardship Council about efforts in Ohio to protect pollinators from these toxic chemicals.
