On this week's episode I am interviewing Dr. Shirag Shemmassian; an admissions expert from San Diego, California. Growing up with Tourette Syndrome in a middle-class family, Dr. Shemmassian was often mocked by peers and teachers and discouraged from applying to elite colleges. However, he went on to graduate debt-free with a B.S. in Human Development from Cornell and a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from UCLA. He has since set up his own business helping thousands of students get into top colleges, medical schools, and other graduate programmes. Dr. Shemmassian has been featured on The Washington Post, US News and NBC, as well as being invited to speak at some of the world’s top universities such as Stanford. He presents on topics including standing out on applications, writing memorable personal statements, and navigating through higher education with a disability. In this episode, we’ll cover: Why Shirag decided to become an entrepreneur. How parenthood changed the way in which he works. How to manage running a business with a growing family.
