Got a child with special needs? It's an umbrella term under which a multitude of diagnoses stand. Anything from mild learning disabilities to profound mental retardation, food allergies, terminal illness, developmental delays, occasional panic attacks to serious psychiatric problems crowd. In January 2011, I'm hosting a show on Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD), a controversial diagnosis with some unconventional treatments. Today I focus on hemophilia and dyslexia. Do you really know what each condition is or its impact on a child's learning? My guest is a mom of a child with hemophilia, Barb Ward Dittrich. Barb is well acquainted with the unique challenges of parenting kids with a medical diagnosis because her other child has a special need as well. She's also the Executive Director of Snappin' Ministries, an organization assisting parents of children with a variety of challenges.
