Week 12 of the Philadelphia Eagles 2021 season is now in the books as the Eagles lost on the road up at MetLife Stadium to the New York Giants by a score of 13-7. The Eagles are now 5-7 on this developmental season, and there are questions, as there should be, on whether or not the Eagles can actually make a playoff push after this disaster of a performance. This week we were joined on the postgame podcast show by Emily Iannaconi (@EmilyIannaconi) from BigBlueView.com.
Jalen Hurts had his first ever 3 interception game and only threw for 129 yards on 31 attempts. He was inconsistent, hesitant and is still not getting through all of his reads. While Nick Sirianni didn't start the game rushing the ball effectively, he came around to it as the Birds rushed for 208 total yards on the ground. Jalen Reagor could have caught two balls to potentially win the game for the Eagles, but both were dropped.
There is no way the Eagles defense should be blamed for this loss. They held Saquon Barkley and the Giants rushing attack to 70 yards and tried to help the Eagles offense as much as possible. Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon was allowing the Eagles cornerbacks to battle it out in man coverage against the Giants receivers, which was working nicely throughout the game.
As always, we gave our takeaways, dove into the stats, and graded coaches.
