In Episode 47 of The Recruit Grind podcast, we're joined by Micah Cloward, Director of Strength and Conditioning at the University of Sioux Falls. As always, our goal is to provide you with valuable insights into college sports recruiting. In this episode, we had an enriching conversation covering various aspects:
1. Micah's Inspiring Journey: We delved into Micah's personal journey, which started at Snow College, a renowned institution known for producing remarkable athletes. His story is a testament to the opportunities that can arise from the junior college route.
2. Measurable Metrics and Athletic Performance: We discussed the significance of measurable metrics, such as height, weight, wingspan, and speed, in the recruiting process. Micah shed light on how these metrics impact an athlete's performance and why they matter to recruiters.
3. Accountability and Independence: We emphasized the importance of athletes taking responsibility for their recruiting process. Our conversation extended to the need for young athletes to prepare themselves for independence, both in college and beyond, without relying solely on their parents.
4. The "PIT" (Transitional Rehab): We explored a unique concept called the "PIT" or "transitional rehab." This innovative approach allows athletes to stay engaged with team activities during their recovery from injuries, fostering both physical and mental resilience.
5. Camaraderie and Lifelong Connections: Finally, we touched on the profound camaraderie and connections formed at the college level. These experiences have a lasting impact on individuals and shape their lives beyond athletics.
As always, we encourage you to follow us on your preferred podcast platform, leave a rating and review, and send us a screenshot via Direct Message on Instagram to receive a free wristband. Stay tuned for more valuable insights and guidance on navigating the recruit grind.
