Within this episode I had the chance to speak with Marcus Lannie the Founder of Marcus’ Morning Minute, Product Manager at A-Laser, Chairman of the Board with the American Society of Mechanical Engineering, Purdue University Alumni (Class of 2022), current engineering graduate student at University of California Berkeley, a well known and well respected Public Speaker, and recently named ASME #1 Global Student Leader. Marcus has built a tremendous following on LinkedIn and has achieved remarkable things. He has been able to help over 300 students find career opportunities and land jobs/internships. In 2022 alone, he has been invited to speak to 1,000+ students on Student Leadership, LinkedIn, Branding, Networking, and his signature “Secrets to Success: College Edition”. In 2022, he was named “#1 Global Student Leader” by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for his leadership in growing Purdue University’s ASME chapter from 10 to 300 members during his tenure as President. Lastly he has volunteered for over 1,000 hours with Autumn Leaves, where he interacted with 60 individuals afflicted with dementia to help mitigate feelings of isolation and depression by hosting activities including game nights, piano concerts, dance parties, and birthday celebrations. Within this episode we talked about his experiences as both a undergraduate (Purdue) and graduate student (UC Berkeley), what advice he has to students and people starting off in their career, how to grow on LinkedIn, how to grow a DREAM TEAM around you, the mindset he has as a leader, what his path has been to get where he is now, some other great pieces of advice and wisdom he had to give to student leaders, entrepreneurs, and start ups, and much more!
