The guys are back after a break of nearly a month to bring you episode 93 of the Sumo Survival Bushcraft Podcast.

Len from Aberdeen asks the guys when they last lit a camp fire that was used for a purpose rather than just for practice. Sean admits has been a while since he lit a fire in anger and explains why.

Dumbarton based Owen ask the brothers for advice on which type of sleeping bag he should buy that would be suitable for all year round use when tent camping. Sy talks about the US military layered sleep system and the guys talk about other options they favour.

Nick asks if he can submit normal commercial camp sites to the Bushcraft Location Map and not ones that are just bushcraft friendly. The fellas talk about possibilities for expanding the mapping of locations suitable for the bushcrafter.

Calum, a new listener from the North of England, recently went wild camping on the North York Moors (National Park) with a few friends and was woken by an employee of the land owner telling to move on or face a fixed penalty fine. He asks the guys if land owners have the power to fine people trespassing on their land. Sean talks about the need for the National Parks body to be more active in their communication of what you can and can’t do in the UK’s National Parks and also explains why some areas can fine trespassers in England and Wales.

Listener Danny from Kent was recently stopped and searched by the local Police while out practising his bushcraft skills. They said that they had stopped him as he was wearing military type clothing. He would like to know if other bushcrafters have encountered this problem. The brothers talk about the reasons for this happening to Danny and why you should be more visible when practicing your skills in the wild in these days of heightened security.
