The original TEDx RushU talk was presented on April 4, 2024, and was re-recorded for this episode on April 29, 2024.
Those supporting aging loved ones face unprecedented challenges compared to caregivers of the past. Three forces are contributing to this phenomenon.
First, declining birth rates mean smaller family networks to share caregiving duties. Second, increased life expectancy coupled with more years spent managing chronic diseases prolongs the duration of care required. Third, greater mobility means loved ones often live far apart, making in-person support more difficult.
As our loved ones age, innovative solutions will be needed to ensure the support network can assist. Can technology fill in some of the gaps?
“What do you see as the role of Generative AI to support aging loved ones and their support network?”
… and the GenAI chatbot answered.
Generative AI could support our aging loved ones and their support network by acting as a personalized health assistant, accomplish tasks through agents, or having something to talk to.
