The Independent Electoral Commission says it will be going to court for guidance regarding the postponement of the October 27 Local Government Elections. The elections body has accepted the recommendations of the Judge Dikgang Moseneke Inquiry which says the elections will not be free and fair if they are held in October as planned. Moseke says elections should be held by no later than the 22nd of February next year. This given the current climate in the country. But what does the law say about the deferment of elections?
