In recent months, we have seen athletes across the country working towards qualification for the Olympic Games. As we mark 14 days to the global showpiece, we thought that we could take a moment before the Olympic Games to speak to some of our sporting heroes that will go represent us in Paris. We wanted to understand what goes into preparing for an Olympic event, the resolve to bounce back after injury, the moment of achieving the dream & how they use their role in society to inspire a new generation of athletes in their field.

Our next guest hails from Durban where his love for water started at the age of eight and has gone from humble beginnings at Seagulls Swimming Club to becoming a 4x Olympic Medalist. He is one of South Africa’s most decorated Olympians and has dominated international swimming over the last three decades (2000s; 2010s & 2020s). He has been described by World Aquatics as “the ultimate competitor”. He is the man that stunned the world when he beat US Swimmer and hero, Michael Phelps at the 2012 London Olympics.
