This month's episode is about our Director here at Syracuse Arts Academy, Mr. Dale Pfister! After an LDS mission to South Korea and a year at Ricks College, Dale transferred to Brigham Young University and received his Bachelor's degree in teaching. During his studies at BYU, Dale worked as a painting contractor, custodian, and school bus driver. After receiving his Bachelor's degree, Dale began teaching in 1977 at Renne Middle School in Newberg, Oregon. There he taught Industrial Arts for the next four years. With some classroom experience under his belt, Dale moved his family back to Utah in 1982 for graduate school at BYU. Two years later, Dale completed his Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and quickly returned to the classroom. For the past 40+ years, Dale has served as a metal shop teacher, administrative intern, assistant principal, principal, supervisor of secondary education at the district office, a career and technical education director, and a director of facilities and operations for Weber school district. Dale claims that he retired on June 30th, 2016 but considering where we are now, Dale did not actually retire. Dale and his wife Jill are the parents of 10 children and more than 29 grandchildren. Of all of Dale's titles, his title as Director of Syracuse Arts Academy is our favorite.
