His birthday is celebrated in several states, and is combined with Memorial Day in Mississippi on the last Monday of May. Jefferson Davis served as the Secretary of War, was chosen twice to the US Senate, and was the only president of the Confederate States of America, which, as a Yankee, I’m not allowed to acknowledge the existence of.
