It's Sunday, May 24, 2015 and today is Indianapolis 500 Day.
Although not technically a “day,” this event has become a holiday in the same sense that the Super Bowl is a holiday. The 99th Indy 500 takes place this Memorial Day weekend. Since the inaugural race in 1911, the Indianapolis 500 has become steeped in tradition. One of these traditions seems to be that dads everywhere reserve the television for Sunday afternoon so they can watch it for fifteen minutes and then fall asleep.
