Natalie Khun partnered with Taryn Toomey to bring the vision of The Class to life and in turn discovered it was her vocation. Raised by an ex-nun and a doctor, Natalie found ways to use the physical body to experience spirituality and use spirituality to live more freely in the body. She helped grow The Class and the business from a two-woman team operating out of the founder’s apartment to what it is today, with studios in New York and Los Angeles, and a digital platform offering mindfulness practices to students in 71 countries across the globe.

The Class is not about outward appearance, it is about inward appearance. The goal is to change the way we think about fitness and movement, so we can understand what it feels like to be alive within you, under your skin. So when we come to this place of fatigue and exhaustion, we are not living there for the purpose of calorie counting or body scuplting, we are living there to understand our mind and hearts response to challenge and difficulty.

Natalie discusses the weight of mental health and how we can use this body of work and this community of people to do something different. She believes that our biggest want is belonging. Explaining that if we continue to chase the way we look, how we act, or what we have in order to fit in it is simply a hollow shell of a promise of belonging. When ultimately we are seeking the feeling of home.

Natalie is dedicated to using movement and breath to create a stronger, clearer connection to self. She hopes that students leave her Class feeling more alive, more connected to themselves, and therefore, to the greater world around them.
