John Millman

John was one of my favourite people when I was on tour. He loves a chat and is one of the loud guys in the locker room. I was lucky enough to play doubles with him once and even though we lost I enjoyed it. He’s one of the good guys in tennis and hopefully you enjoy our chat.

  1. What age did you first get a racket in your hand?
  2. Did you play a lot of sports as a kid? What age did you specialize in tennis?
  3. Nowadays you see kids specialising in tennis at a young age did you think it helped you playing other sports?
  4. Were you parents big into tennis? Were they tennis people?
  5. How many days a week were you playing in high school? What was your progression through the rankings?
  6. When did you say you wanted to be a top player? And when did you believe you could be top 100?
  7. Where did that conviction and belief come from? What was the mind-set there going forward?
  8. When you got close to the top 100 did you feel like you could get there?
  9. What did you do when you were injured and how you filled your days?
  10. Were you still working when you were rehabbing?
  11. How did you feel when you made the top 100? Did you feel you had made the top of a mountain?
  12. Did you go back to the office again?
  13. You have played a lot of big matches over the years. What advice would you give to club or young players?
  14. Where will Liverpool finish the end of the season?
