What really happens in a successful Presidential debate? Do we even know anymore? Between Joe Biden’s word salads and Donald Trump lacking substantive content, it’s hard to determine who is the least appealing candidate. Both candidates failed to connect with undecided voters as the debate started with national and global conflicts and quickly derailed into heated, personal attacks and name calling. Biden’s flustered and forgetful tone, which greatly highlighted Trump’s energy and confidence, had the Democrats re-evaluating their candidate, but Biden also failed a few counter-narratives that could have made him more attractive to voters. Host Jack Russo invites David Mann (A Simple Message) back to The Valley Current® to break down how message discipline projects a unifying, presidential vision that appeals to a broad coalition which is essential for success.
