On this week’s episode we wrap up our four-part series on the gnostic flavored Gospels of Thomas from the Nag Hammadi Library. In the free section of the show we begin by reflecting on how deeply Gnosticism has woven itself into our culture before resuming at line 94 where the economy of spirit and the world begin to clash. We then open discussion about the prolific use of bread in Christianity, what it means spiritually and the mythological significance it inherited from ancient Egypt. Afterwards we talk about God’s first creation, the shattering of the vessels and even some cosmology from Philip K. Dick. In the extended version of the show we discuss Christ’s controversial gangster rap lyrics, his tumultuous outlook toward family and the harrowing feud between Horus and Set where each attempted to best the other by finding a way to get their semen inside of them. Finally we wrap things up by addressing some of the controversy in the last line by exploring the symbolic role of gender from an occult perspective and how it can be used to reinterpret some of the Thomas verses. Thank you and enjoy the show!
