Taitu Heron is a Gender and Development specialist, human rights advocate and performance poet. She holds a BSc in International Relations from the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cambridge, UK. Her areas of expertise include rights-based development planning and management; and policy development and coordination, and advocacy and partnership building. In this chapter, we talked about her upbringing within the Rastafarian community, how young people can take action for change in the community, her experiences as a poet, how writers can produce good documented research and her spiritual take over during the Tambourine Army protest.
