TCBOO-Podcast-logoTwo movies titled The Game enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau watch Bollywood’s take on Agatha Christie — and the David Fincher movie everyone forgot he directed — to determine which should be called The Game.

The first movie is a 2011 Indian release filled with mystery, intrigue, and just three dance numbers. In it, four people are invited to an island where their host can spell out everyone’s possible motive and then die from a gunshot wound to the head. After a few love songs, it’s off to discover who the real killer is. This movie has elements of being a game, but too many distractions for it to be the title.

Our second film is the third directorial effort for David Fincher, who made Fight Club, The Social Network, and other more recognizable movies. Here, Michael Douglas is given a gift certificate by his brother, Sean Penn, and told this “Game” will change his life. Michael starts playing and bad stuff starts happening. This movie benefits from the fact there are more rules and obstacles faced by its characters, keeping it more in the spirit of the title.

This one’s gonna be a toughie, but is either movie good enough to call itself The Game? Listen if you dare.
