Two movies titled Black Panther enter, only one will leave (with that title) as Herman “OmegaPrime” Davis and Robert Rau watch Marvels first of many hits of 2018 — and a notorious robber in Britain turned heiress kidnapper — to determine which should be called Black Panther.
Herman and Robert do not talk much about the plot of the new Marvel movie. They just wanted to talk about how awesome this whole superhero phenomenon is. While DC movies are hit and miss, Marvel just keep knocking them out of the park, especially this latest movie that won’t have any real competition until March. As for the title, Herman’s life was threatened if we decided to change it, so it will probably be allowed to keep the title.
The second movie turned out to be too real too soon. Conveniently available on Amazon Prime, and based on a series of robberies and a kidnapping in 1972, star Donald Sumpter plays the character with no sympathy. This guy was ruthless and relentless, and that translation to film can be a bit hard to digest. As for title suggestions, Herman and Robert did feel if they were going to use a superhero’s name, there was a more appropriate one for the movie.
This one won’t be a toughie, but is either movie good enough to call itself Black Panther? Listen if you dare.
