Hilma Wolitzer is an American novelist who has received honors and fellowships from Guggenheim Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Woodrow Wilson Foundation, and the American Academy of Arts & Letters. Her novels include Ending, In the Flesh, The Doctor's Daughter, and Hearts. Her 14th book, An Available Man, was published in 2012. She has taught at the Iowa Writer's Workshop, Columbia University, New York University, and the Bread Loaf Writers Conference. Wolitzer has two daughters, Meg who is a novelist, and Nancy, who is a freelance editor and visual artist. She lives in Manhattan with her husband who is a Psychologist.
