Would it have been a bad choice to go with Coldplay's Chris Martin in the final moments of this episode singing "Look at the stars. Look how they shine for you?" Maybe. Would it have made the episode funnier, damn straight. The issue with "The Three-Body Problem" isn't its hard-science source material, nor the notion that all the world's top scientists studied together at Oxford in the same year and became friends. Rather, it's the patience required from both book readers and newcomers to determine if the story successfully translates to a TV medium.
