Real Life Joy (1 John 1:1-4)
The Author of the Book of 1,2,3 John is the Apostle John. John was one of Jesus ‘ disciples whom He loved, the son of Zebedee, and brother of James. Jesus entrusted John with the care of His mother, gave John the vision of the transfiguration, gave he and his brother the nickname sons of thunder, allowed John to witness His most amazing miracles, and later gave John the Book of Revelation. John experienced life with Jesus.

John did his best to express his experiential knowledge of Jesus.

John explained that the message of Jesus is intimately related to who Jesus is.

Jesus is the Word of life, the One who existed before the beginning of the world. He never changes. Genesis 1:1, 27; John 1:1; Hebrews 13:8. John and other eyewitnesses saw Jesus as Deity, who they proclaimed had life in Himself from eternity, incarnated in time/space/history.

John emphatically stated that Jesus was the everlasting Son of God, Who is the true God and eternal life, and Who has been revealed in history, during John’s lifetime.

John enjoined all Saints to ‘koinonia’ (fellowship) in Jesus Christ. He shared his witness and proclamation. John declared that the distinguishing mark of born-again believers is that of fellowship with God the Father, with Jesus the Son, and with one another.

John encouraged the Church as they faced a barrage of false teachings. He wanted Believers to understand that fellowship with the Father and Jesus is equates to having eternal life.

John felt joy. He equated abiding in Christ for all born-again Believers as having complete joy. John 15:1-11

How’s your fellowship with the Church? How’s your fellowship with God?

How’s your joy?
