Welcome to this episode of the Travel + Loyalty podcast series. Today we are talking to Finnair to hear about their new cabins on their long haul fleet.
Finnair have launched a new cabin on their long haul fleet. A brand new Business Class created together with Collins Aerospace. It is called the AirLounge and it is quite unique as it does not recline, but still give you a flat bed.
Finnair also launched their first ever Premium Economy cabin and seat. This is also something where there is a couple of things others do not have.
Lastly Finnair also refurbished their Economy cabin and seat.
We talk today to Kristos Mavrostomos, who is the Development Manager for Customer Experience and Design from Finnair. During our interview we get to know what is the decisions Finnair made during the desgin process and how the new AirLounge became a reality. Finnair is the first airline to have a seat like this. Finnair calls it "A piece of Nordic furniture".
The AirLounge is not a traditional aircraft seat but takes inspiration from Nordic lounge furnitures. The seat is designed to maximise comfort, space, privacy and freedom to move during a long-haul flight. The clean lines and the dark, comforting colour scheme follow Finnair’s Nordic design style that is visible also in Finnair’s lounges in the non-Schengen area at Helsinki Airport.
We have tested both the new Business Class and the new Premium Economy on a trip to New York from Helsinki. Read our reviews here:
