This week’s #Worth1000Words image is from Fiona Harper, who writes: "I've travelled all over the world, yet prior to relocating to Darwin to work on a project with Tourism NT, I'd never seen two of Australia's famous icons: Kakadu and Uluru. I quickly fixed that. Cruising through Yellow Waters Billabong in Kakadu, we spotted so much wildlife it was hard to know where to focus my camera. But this obliging saltie knew how to capture my attention. Silently gliding through the billabong, he 'posed' within a colourful patch of blooming lilies, creating a magical moment that reminds me of everything I love about Kakadu. Its raw wildness, serenity and the beauty of an ancient land remains little changed in 60,000-odd years. It's absolutely mesmerizing. Photo: Fiona Harper Kakadu…

Bordered in the north by Ecuador and Colombia, in the east by Brazil, in the south-east by Bolivia and in the south by Chile with the waters of the Pacific at its feet, Peru is a country that never disappoints its Australian visitors. Of intrigue are the peaks of the forested Andes, in particular the ancient Inca ruins of Machu Picchu which can be reached from Cuzco by train or for the fittest on foot. For all the latest news on the South American country, travel writer MIKE SMITH spoke with Peru Trade Commissioner in Australia Sol Campos de Parry at the Travmedia Internatinal Media Marketplace and found there was more to liking her home than trekking the Inca trail. Here's some food for thought…

We received a n email this week from Travel and Leisure Co saying they had 160 vacancies for young people to join the hospitality and tourism secror, and these were jobs that could lead to a career in what from personal experience is a great industry And it got us thinking, maybe there are kids who have completed Year 12 in 2024 but are still looking for their career path. So I spoke to the Senior Vice President Human Resources & Brand Communications for this multinational business, Bruce Harkness, who told me they are looking for young people, not necessarily with a degree, but with the right attitude. More: go to the Careers section of their website: https://www.travelandleisureco.com…
In this week’s Worth1000Words image, Karin Avila explains the photo she took in her village of Teulada , Karin writes: “In front of City Hall in Teulada, Spain, local students—both boys and girls—gathered to celebrate International Women's Day. It was one of several events planned throughout the week designed to celebrate the accomplishments of Spanish women and empower a new generation to continue to fight for equality. One of many celebrations throughout Spain, a group of young women stood to the side proudly holding a white sign decorated with colorful butterflies that read, "Juntes Imparables," meaning "Unstoppable Together" in Valenciano. We reckon it is @worth1000Words.…
