“KING of the Streets 2021”

Hosts: Tim Smith and Matt Howsen

Guest: Jake Lieder

  • Show introduction and welcome.

Tim Notes:

The Vegas race.

The trip into town

Thursday night hang out relax and had a lovely steak and shake no room service no steak

Friday MaxAmps day! Stickers on the Lambo, Drifter madness and go karts from hell.

Test hits with the team (wind and fun) I get to meet flat Tim for the first time.

Team dinner, not the same with Covid (John, David, Todd, Ablie, Colin, Craig, Jerry, Ian

in bed early but its not home so I was up early. Or so I thought it was actually an hour off...

Saturday race day: Where do I start? No parking, walked about 5 miles to get in because I dont wait.

What are we running, no test space or time. Look at that Shut down!

Test hit, drove down the slope....

First round hit Spinning was winning when you have the bye run

DQ's all around! Voltage and burn outs

Second round we got some decisions to make, What car. Some times you just get out run, Chris Bradford “grits” Bad tune job did me in, Who was asking me for my password? So weird... !up cam angle.

So racing is over and I was a little down but the fans, oh the fans. Kayden Phillips thank you for letting me be in a picture with you!

Some interviews, lots and lots of talking to people, taking photos and signing autograpghs. What a wonderful time to be in RC when I wasn't hiding out in the trailer.

Daniel judd and Ricky Bellotti (Drag tires VooDoo

More about this damn Christy family, where do I start with them.. my gosh they have adopted me and I never want to go home! They take very good care of Tim

The weather got worst as the final got nearer

Clay Keates and Jacob Lieder All Malcan finals! WIN WIN

Clay took the win and like winning a super bowl the cameras and micphones swallowed poor clay up, he looked like a dear in the headlights.

Jacob: DR10 stock chassis, Maclan DRK 4.5 motor and battery.

Clay: Maclan DRK, 3.5 motor and bullet chassis

Wrap up:

The coverage was Great, it got a little long in the end but those guys has to endure the cold and wind plus keep talking nonstop about a side of the sport there were not really familiar with so great job.

There was about 205 drivers total

Several young kids slaying fast cars left and right(Chevelle and Kayden)

The surface was better then it looked and the shut down was really not an issue

The weather was as bad as I would ever want to see, it was nearly not tolerable.

They got everything done in time, I have to credit both the team of people running the race and the drivers who all go up there and didnt mess around.

It was on all accounts a success and we were told next year would be a three day event so that more people can go and race without the time limits.

The thing I tried to make clear to all our team guys was that an event like this though we all want to win it we must all take a few minutes to truly enjoy what we are able to be a part of, the memories and fun.

Finally I want to thank the people and companies that allow me to have an experience like this. MaxAmps, for years of support that has been measurable.

Maclan
