On this date, February 21, 1986, “The Goonies” video game was released for Nintendo’s Famicom (Family Computer); it was later ported and released on the computer (PC-8801, X1, MSX), for the arcade (VS. System, Playchoice-10), and the Famicom Disk System. The game was based on the film of the same name, which was released in the United States on June 7, 1985. It follows the adventures of one member of the Goonies trying to save the rest of the game while avoiding the Fratellis. Today, we’re celebrating the release of the game with (sadly) two original tracks and their covers and arrangements. Of course, we’ll get to hear that theme song from the movie, “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” Prepare to run through the restaurant, traverse the caverns, and finally reach the pirate ship to rescue the gang! The Goonies/Walkthrough (StrategyWiki) Intro and BGM: “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough” – composed by Cyndi Lauper, Stephen Broughton Lunt, and Arthur Stead, with vocals by Cyndi Lauper. All original tracks were composed by Satoe Terashima “Stage 1” “The Goonies NES (JemyMusic Cover)” – covered by Jemy Music “Stage 2” “It’s Our Time” – arranged by Vurez Outro: “Endcredits” – [The Goonies 20th Anniversary Edition] – composed by Jorrith Schaap, remake of the MSX version from the 2006 Retro Remakes competition YouTube playlist Discord channel Source…

Ah, the power of love… it’s a wonderful feeling that can carry you through the day, especially when it’s rough. Sometimes, love can all you to do additional things or learn more about someone. Intimate connections aside, love can be many things. We’re celebrating Valentine’s Day by talking about the waifu (or husbando). Loaned from the English language in the 1980s, it was an alternative Japanese term to more intimately describe your person of interest or significant other. During the 2000s, both terms were re-appropriated into slang to mean a fictional character from non-live visual media (video games, anime, or manga) that one considers their ideal significant other. It was first mentioned in the anime “Azumanga Daioh”. This week, we’re playing tracks from video games with waifu potential: a region in Tamriel, high school life in and out of the Metaverse, and a world that follows its own laws of physics. And yes, we’ve got some covers and remixes to follow each track. Have a listen to these tracks as you think lovingly about your waifu or husbando… Glossary of anime and manga – Fandom Fictional Characters Dictionary – Waifu My Waifu – Azumanga Daioh Intro and BMG: “Power of Love” – by Huey Lewis and the News “The Streets of Whiterun” – [The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim] – composed by Jeremy Soule “TES V: Skyrim – The Streets of Whiterun – Cover by Dryante (Jeremy Soule)” – covered by Dryante Zan “Encounter/Meeting” – [Persona 5] – composed by Toshiki Konishi “Persona 5 – Encounter (Remix)” – remixed by Harminder “Marching of Xiezhi” – [Genshin Impact] – composed by Dimeng Yuan, performed by the International Philharmonic Orchestra “Yanfei Theme Music – Legal Expertise (tnbee mix) | Genshin Impact” – remixed by tnbee Outro: “Wind’s Nocturne (Luna’s Boat Song)” – [Lunar Silver Star Story Complete] – composed by Noriyuki Iwadare, vocals by Jennifer (Sigile) Magallanes YouTube playlist Discord channel Source…

It’s time to party! We’re celebrating three years of covers, remixes, arrangements, and orchestrations of video game music on RE-VGM. The first episode was published on February 4, 2022, with its first look at “Dearly Beloved” and its covers and remixes by musicians. Since then, and with a quick retooling, each episode has been a celebration of many things: what’s happening on that day, the games that have been played, and the tracks that have been listened and added to playlists. We have a blocks of tracks from several areas: Masters of VGM, On Stage Now, and video game soundtracks. My thanks to all the listeners, subscribers, and followers of RE-VGM. May the next year find more things to celebrate, more tracks to listen, and more musicians to feature… First Block, Masters of VGM “Light Crusader sega ost guitar metal cover” (Episode 126) – composed by Aki Hata; covered by VinsnetVH “Ragnarok II: Intro Theme Cover” (Episode 127) – composed by Yoko Kanno; covered by TeraCMusic “Salamander/Life Force – Starforce Remake” (Episode 128) – composed by Miki Higahino; remixed by nostARtia “The Best is Yet to Come – Metal Gear Solid Remix” (Episode 129) – composed by Rika Muranaka; remixed by Enzo Satera Second Block, On Stage Now “THE BADDEST – K/DA Rock Cover | Lollia ft. @ShikiMiyoshino” (Episode 112) – composed by K/DA, covered by Lollia; arranged by Sleeping Forest “The Witcher 3 – Merchants of Novigrad (ft.
