Mat showed me a photo of his ex-wife, her beauty a sharp contrast to the emptiness in his eyes. As he spoke, his voice trembled with sorrow. “She was my everything,” he said, the weight of his loss evident in each word. “Without her, I’m lost.”
As a therapist, I knew healing required him to face the pain head-on. “Confront your feelings,” I urged gently. “Only then can you find happiness again.” As he wiped his tears, I saw a flicker of hope in his eyes and knew we had taken the first important step toward his healing.
