This week on the WeGrowOurs show, Nick and Don talk survival gear! Tough tested by Tim Ralston of Gear Up. We visit Tim at his store and get to check out all the fun toys he has available.

Don’t forget to tune into Independent Talk 1100AM - KFNX on Sundays from 1-2!!

Timothy Ralston, is an American inventor, entrepreneur, adventurer, author, movie and television presenter, and renowned expert in the field of survival and preparedness education. He is best known for his appearance in the powerful motivational film, The Compass, and for being featured on NatGeo’s # 1 Rated program, Doomsday Preppers. Because of Tim’s positive reception and expansive fan-base as a survival expert, he has most recently embarked on a worldwide campaign as a spokesman for the NatGeo series and the “prepper” movement at large.

Tim has invented a number of best-selling products for preparedness, survival, and outdoor exploration such as his best-selling survival multi-tool shovel, The Crovel. The Crovel has been featured on NatGeo, Coast to Coast AM, FOX News, Wall Street Journal, Reuters, Access Hollywood, and Anderson Cooper Live, to name a few. Tim has also launched a website that offers expert hand-selected and tested outdoor and survival products: http://www.gearupcenter.com. Tim’s goal through this outlet is to bring the best, most innovative, American-Made survival gear to market.

Outside of television, Ralston works with large groups as an enthusiastic motivational speaker, educating corporations and other organizations as an expert in the field of conceptual visualization and the power of positive projection. An optimist at heart, Tim helmed the creation of the largest Vision Board (http://www.visionboardsite.com) website in the world, which led to him being featured in films and books on the topic of the power of visualization and taking personal initiative to invoke positive life changes.

People who first meet Tim are often perplexed that he has these two sides, being both a “prepper” and a positively geared public speaker, but as he explains, “Being prepared is not a ‘bad’ or negative thing. It’s looking ahead, and making educated decisions to empower yourself with the skills and knowledge you will need to survive any situation in life.” Tim’s teachings strongly emphasize overcoming challenges through preparedness, creative problem solving, and maintaining a goal-oriented approach in life. Tim views survival education and preparedness training as an absolute positive. It gives him the peace of mind and the knowledge that he can handle anything that comes his way.

A love for adventure and overcoming challenges to achieve his goals is nothing new for Tim. He has been a “prepper” and thrill-seeker for as long as he can remember. As a child, Tim’s father trained him to trail ride horses competitively in rural Colorado, embarking on 3 to 5 day treks at a time. During these trips, he was required to learn self-sufficiency and survival skills. He quickly mastered the essentials of wilderness and emergency survival: risk management, hunting, emergency rescue, first aid, survival, shelter building, and fishing skills to name a few. The life lessons Tim acquired as a child paid off; making his time in the United States Air Force Special Operations Paratrooper Division priceless by honing his abilities even further and granting him extensive combat and rescue skills training. Tim’s love of flight soared to new heights as he was one of the first pilots ever to test-fly paramotors in their early inception. Soon after, Tim took to the sky yet again by taking up the hobby of piloting helicopters. Through all of life’s experiences and adventures, Tim has adopted the motto, “Prepare for the worst, and hope for the best” while making prepping a lifestyle.
