When two become one, it's not always a match made in heaven.
When it comes to "conjunctions" in astrology, it quite literally is a match of two planets in our heavens, but we'll get to that.
You of course know I don't mean this literally - I mean things aren't always amazing when two energies mix. We don't always see the best and brightest aspect of each other light up when we blend with another in a project, friendship, or romantic relationship. We don't always give the best impression to folks in our peripheral, by which I mean our vibe might be a bit off kilter when we combine with another's.
As humans, we can consciously contend with these feelings - break up with the person discontinue the relationship, stop the presses on that project...
The planets, though, have a different way of doing things.
Like clockwork, they each move at their own speeds, and sometimes, from our perspective on Earth, they appear to be right on top of each other in our sky - a conjunction! Take Venus and Mars, for instance. At the moment, they are both in Virgo, and both at around 17 degrees of Virgo, right on top of each other. From our perspective here on Earth, they are forming a conjunction and their energies are blending together, affecting us all in a way I can barely describe as a ...
Funk.
It's uncomfortable. It's rigid yet anxiously shifty. Nerve wracking yet determined. Perfectionist fueling yet diligently persistent. Venus and Mars didn't willingly choose to come together at this time, but whelp, here we are here on Earth, feeling their vibes as a coupling duet of planets, coming together seemingly so naturally, yet somehow, it still feels a little off for folks.
We've all heard that little phrase that men are from Mars and women are from Venus, right? How binary promoting ... yet when it comes to these two planets and their energies, it rings true in a way. Mars represents a pure, divine masculine energy, one that we have within us all, and Venus the same as it is the divine feminine energy we have within us all. When you were born, in fact, Venus and Mars are planetary bodies - energies - within your chart, within your natural frequency, to some degree but to a degree nevertheless, however small or large.
They are two parts of the same whole, yin and yang, and when they come together in the same part of our sky, we really should be finding a balance, right?
Things aren't always that black and white - hence our Moon card pull from the Wild Unknown Tarot.
Not every conjunction at every point in time is going to be positive - even though, if you ready any astrological book out there, you might think otherwise! It just doesn't make sense to assign standard values to some of the energies we can track astrologically because we're never going to know just how an energy will affect us until we're in it.
Just like we'll never know what's ahead of us on our path until we're there. The future is an unknown. Untraceable. Unreliable. And unimaginably awesome.
Our other cards this week, for how we can take full conscious advantage of this energy for our highest good, are the Three of Wands and Ace of Swords. This is a window of funky, glorious opportunity. A portal to a new way of thinking, a doorway to a timeline you've been asking for, even if you haven't been conscious of it.
Your choice to grasp your faith in your hands and make this the world you want to live in is what will be the deciding factor in how you handle the funk. Do you grab that sword and go forth on a new adventure through the looking glass, or say "fuck this??!?" and cut that portal down, sheathing your sword to fight another day?
Neither choice is bad. Neither path is good. It is only indecision that leaves you stuck in fear.
