This is a LIVE recording of the Diversity in Cycling panel held at Look mum no hands! 49 Old St. EC1V 9HX on Monday 24th June. More riders from Black And Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds seem to be taking up cycling. Yet most cycling clubs, even in racially diverse London, are still very white. The same appears to be true of how cycling is portrayed at national level, including cycling media and brands. Starting off as a small project within one cycling club in London, DIVERSITY IN CYCLING has grown to include contributions from over 60 BAME cyclists, whose experiences of cycling and cycling clubs are very revealing. These experiences are detailed in a PDF report together with practical recommendations that cycling clubs, the media and brands can all play a part in embracing. DIVERSITY IN CYCLING is supported by British Cycling and this event is open to any cyclist interested in learning more about diversity and inclusion within the cycling community. The Q&A featured contributors to the report and also offered an opportunity to meet and get to know fellow cyclists and make new connections.
