Eighteen months later she returns with her sophomore effort, "Four Chambers". The evolution of Sulci is clear on this latest set of tracks. There's a new found maturity and musicality. The album pulls in a plethora of influences and uses them to provide us with some more dancefloor-friendly tracks, whilst keeping that distinct mellow vibe that Sulci has become known for. It's quite the combination. Rippling and rolling funk, melded into cosy ambience amid laid back vocal experiments. WL//WH welcomes the return of the Biel, Switzerland-based Minimal Synth duo of Sadie La Chèvre and Nora Düster AKA Extra Bleu Ciel, to the blog with the premiere of “Spiders”, taken from the forthcoming 12-track album, “Hypersensible,” due on March 14, 2025, via the Meta Moto label run by @egzotikka Imagine having a nightmare where a spider is trying to kill you, there is nowhere to hide, and no one can hear you scream. Then you awaken and are able to see the dark powers of the real world at play, such as seduction, greed, anger, and fear, and you realize that reality is far worse than the terrifying dream. The song triggers thumping, stumbling drum kicks and tinny, clinical beats that thread their way into sonorous buzzing low-end undulations, eerie, achingly twisting synth motifs and insistent piano keys, droning and tinkling with plain desolation, to surround softly stunned and in disbelief vocal anxiety, and haunted back-ups, with surreal feelings of menace, helplessness, and doom laden sorrow. With this title, Jëan Fixx’s new work aims to transport us to an indeterminate time where the relationship between humans and technology is so close that the virtual and real worlds can no longer be distinguished. Refined sculptor of equally mysterious and thought-provoking sound narratives combined with intricately textured and multifaceted rich arrangements, wobbling through lucid visions and pensive moods. ____________________________________________________________________ Almost 5 years to the day since his Bricolage debut, "Imitation of Faith", the prolific Belial Pelegrim returns with his latest musical escapade, "The Astronaut's Last Polaroid", and it's a very special one indeed. This album tells the story of Jack Hawthorne. A 68 year old former NASA astronaut that is now grappling with the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Once celebrated for his groundbreaking lunar missions, Jack now finds himself lost in the uncharted territory of his fading mind. Alzheimer's disease is a subject that is no doubt close to the hearts of a lot of people and it's a subject that Belial has carefully mapped out with the utmost respect. The music itself is 15 tracks of lucid and harmonic experimental soundscapes that set a transient stage for what feels like a dark yet beautiful dream. There's a tinge of anxiety laced throughout as you would expect with such a theme but it never becomes foreboding. It's more like giant swirls of memories and relics of the past that drift in and out of view. Belial expertly maps out the journey through hypnagogic tones that resonate with the heart and mind. Fleeting glimpses of rhythmic patterns, flashes of brooding strings and sprinkles of melodic dust. Taking us on a trip through not only Jack's consciousness but also our own. The depth and emotion that burrows its way into each track is of grandiose proportions. At times it feels like we're witnessing a one-man orchestra as we traverse through various realms of classical, glitch. ambient and electronica. A reverie of sonic tapestry.
