Anime News For The Week Of 6-9-14
1. First “Attack on Titan” compilation feature has a release date. It has been leaked that the theatrical date for the first “Attack on Titan” movie is November 22nd, 2014. The idea behind the two films is to broaden the appeal of the franchise. The first movie is titled “Attack on Titan Part I: Crimson Bow and Arrow”. While the second movie is titled “Attack on Titan Part II: Wings of Freedom”. If you are paying attention you will notice that the titles are the names of the opening songs of the series. The plan is to give the movies a theatrical sound design to it which may mean that it might get a 5.1 mix.

2. Sailor Moon Crystal starts July 5th at 6am EST. Another interesting piece of news to go with the broadcast date and time is that the series is bi-weekly. That means that is will be broadcast twice a month on the first and third Saturday of the month. The lead actress is back as Usagi Tsukino/Sailor Moon. The other actors are new to the series. I have seen the promo for it. It’s our Sailor Moon just updated to the 21st Century. Sailor Moon must find the Illusionary Silver Crystal. Queen Beryl is back and also looking for the Illusionary Silver Crystal. Is Sailor Moon and the other guardians up to the task?

3. “Persona 3” stage play gets sequel with musical artist ZAQ. ZAQ previously performed the theme songs for Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions! Seasons 1 and 2, and Non Non Biyori. This follows the news that “Black Butler” is getting another stage play based on the Jack the Ripper story arc. I can’t help but wonder how profitable these plays are.

4. Movies I want to be released in the US on DVD. First, “The Wind Rises” has a release date for the UK of September 29, 2014, but no release date for the US. Second, “Space Pirate Captain Harlock” the 2013 film. I see no release dates for DVD. They have it in Japan. Why not here?

Brynhildr in the Darkness. Episode 8: "The Clue That Was Left"
At the end of the previous episode, Kyota has been the cellphone to a neutral location so he can turn it on. He is afraid it has a tracking device which it does. He thinks he has found the location where another research lab is. The main point of this episode is that Kyota learns how reckless it is to act alone when he investigates the map. He is almost killed. At the very least he is almost taken in by the police for trespassing. He is saved the girls. Later he has an awkward evening with Kazumi. She wants to have sex before she dies. A new witch is introduced at the end of the episode, Nanami Tomitsu. She can scan and modifying people’s memories. The writers should be ramping this series up as there has to be a conclusion soon. I want to see how it ends. Will the girls make it out alive? How many are going to be sacrificed.
One Week Friends. Episode 8: "The Beach with Friends"
Going to the beach with friends and having it rain when you get there must be a pretty common trope in anime. I saw last season in “Golden Time”. Kaori asks Yuki to go to the beach with her. As they can not go alone, Saki and Shogo are invited along. Shogo does not want to go, but he does. He even called Saki in the morning to remind her that they are all going to the beach that day. Shogo is curious about Kaori’s feelings for Yuki while Saki teases Yuki about his feelings for Kaori. I think Shogo has already figured out that they (Kaori and Yuki) are going to end up as a couple. Kaori is experiencing feelings she has never felt before. She has trouble describing them. Meanwhile, a teenager and his family move back into the city. Who is he and what does he bring to the story? Who is he a friend of? And isn’t it a little late to be introducing new characters into the plot line? This series along with a couple others make me happy in...
