Today, I would like to talk to you about, “Love Yourself First.” You deserve to be loved. But whose responsibility is it to love you? Is it your lover, your parents, your friends, your co-workers, God? Whatever your response to these questions, I want you to set it aside for a moment and remember this: the person charged with loving you, is you.
You have heard of the Golden Rule: “Do to others as you would have them do to you” (Luke 6:31, NIV). There is infinite wisdom in this precept. Yet by revelation, another nugget of wisdom can be derived from the same rule and re-stated as follows: “Do unto yourself what you would like others to do unto you.” Put differently, “Treat yourself the way you would like others to treat you.” So in keeping with today’s message, this means, love yourself the way you would like others to love you.
Let the people around you know that you love yourself, unconditionally and unapologetically. Loving yourself will give you a strong and bright aura. When people come near you, they will sense your grace and your power.
How you treat yourself is more important than how others treat you.
