Tracy’s Bio

Tracy Young, MSW, is a former foster youth who was once entangled in the delinquency and dependency child welfare system. After successfully navigating through the system and graduating from high school she began working for the very system that reared her during her teen years. She worked in Child Welfare for over 20 years in various capacities ranging from a youth worker (former foster youth position) to a Children’s Social Worker.

Tracy earned her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. She has also been instrumental in the work being done to improve the outcomes of African American families who are overrepresented in the child welfare system, by teaming with several work groups, as well as co-facilitating trainings and meetings. Tracy has dedicated her life to impacting the field of child welfare through serving children and families, training and inspiring in coming social workers and advocating for change. Tracy also coaches women who have experienced childhood trauma, helping them build confidence, decrease fear and increase their self-esteem.

She uses her experiences to enhance the abilities of those who serve children, youth and families that have come into contact with child welfare agencies.
